Let’s emulate the sound of colours!

Abstract

Let’s emulate the sound of colours from the past the best way the available techniques allows us to do today, by strictly keeping open all the possibilities for our successors. They must be free able to debate, modify and improve our own work.

Presenter

Having graduated in mathematics and computer science, Reto Kromer became involved in audio-visual conservation and restoration as early as 1986. From 1998 to 2003 he was Head of Preservation at the Swiss National Film Archive. Since 2004 he has been running his own preservation company, AV Preservation by reto.ch. From 2007 to 2015 he was a lecturer at the University of Lausanne. He is a lecturer at the Bern University of Applied Sciences since 2002, and since 2011 also at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. His current research includes colour spaces, look-up tables and codec programming and emulation. He is serving as a Director of the Board for AMIA.
