Abstract

How can digital archiving be more environmentally friendly? The presentation illustrates a few aspects on this complex topic by focussing on algorithms: some popular compression algorithms and some popular checksum algorithms. The speaker would like to question some of our habits and present alternative solutions in order to provide input for this long overdue discussion.
