Preservation masters:

Description:
One of the three Sivan views known today.
It is thought that the Edison Kinetoscope was first brought into Switzerland at the beginning of March 1895, by Casimir Sivan & Co., a Geneva-based firm specializing in clock-making and the manufacture of automata. Various people, looking through the eyepiece of the wooden cabinet, had the idea of modifying the apparatus so that more spectators could see the animated images at the same time. On 23 May 1896 Casimir Sivan, together with E. Dalphin, deposited at the federal office for intellectual property in Bern a patent for a ciné-camera and projector of his own invention. It used film of an unusual format: 38 mm wide, with two perforations on both sides of the frame.
This film was preserved by the George Eastman House.
