Internship Announcement

AV Preservation by reto.ch is seeking an intern to assist with a film digitisation project.

This is a wonderful opportunity for a conservation and restoration student close to graduation or for a colleague working in an archive who wishes to gain hands-on experience in the digitisation of a historic film collection for the purposes of both preservation and access. The collection includes a range of colour processes, sound systems and various film gauges. The intern will gain experience in all stages of our 4K/UHD digitisation workflow for 35 mm films and 2K/HD for smaller gauges.

This is a full-time (40 hours per week) internship for six months commencing in Spring and ending in Autumn 2015 based in Écublens (a suburb of Lausanne), Switzerland. As a policy our interns are remunerated. We can offer a salary of 3200 CHF/month, which should adequately cover the cost of living in Switzerland. Our interns can participate in our training courses free of charge. Depending on their individual Academic Institution’s policies, the internship may be used to satisfy a practicum course requirement.

As well as having basic computer skills, proficiency in a Swiss language (German, French, Italian or Romansh) may be advantageous. Applicants must have or be eligible to obtain a valid work permit in Switzerland.

Applicants should submit electronically a letter describing their interest in the archival profession and/or digitisation processes along with their resume. Closing date for applications is 17th April 2015.

Please feel free to contact Reto Kromer or Joshua Levy if you have any further questions about this internship opportunity.
